Remove metadata from Xiaohongshu images

A download from Xiaohongshu may include RED/Xiaohongshu-bound image metadata and location fields. The exact structure varies with file format, product version and download path, so inspect the actual export instead of assuming.

The checker reads the file on your device and groups the signals it finds. It does not alter the content or claim to prove that an image was generated by AI.

For JPG, PNG and WebP, the cleaner copies the compressed image payload and removes only selected metadata segments or chunks. It does not use canvas, resize the image or introduce another lossy JPEG encode.

HEIC-to-JPG is the explicit exception because format conversion requires decoding and encoding. Keep the untouched Xiaohongshu export whenever provenance or authorship records may matter.

Download the full file from Xiaohongshu, inspect its markers, choose the narrowest suitable cleaning scope and verify the clean copy. Then follow the guide for the destination where you plan to publish.

Upload platforms process files differently and may use signals beyond metadata, so removing file fields is not a promise about labels or distribution.
